The first week of May was more like Megayacht Mania Week at the famed
Bitter End Yacht Club, where the
PMY staff gathered for our annual staff meeting. In fact, so many famous yachts visited the waters of North Sound in Virgin Gorda that a turnstile should have been put in place. You're looking at the
Westport Resolute (above) and the
Christensen Thirteen (the ex-
Barchetta, below).
Also spotted that week: the
Benetti Domani, the
Feadship Gallant Lady and the
Broward Lady Francis IV . If I'd had a dollar for each time someone asked me, "Which yacht is that?" I'd own one instead of simply write about them.

Has the yacht "Thirteen" ever been on the Hudson River near Newburgh? We thought we may have seen this yacht on June 17, 2007

ReplyDelete"Thirteen" tied up at the Carousel Marina in Boothbay Harbor, ME, before the first visible sunset of the week here, on July 19, 2009. Sixteen lobster dinners were delivered aboard from The Whale's Tale Restaurant, there. She was still there at 9:00 pm. "Texas oilmen", are rumored to be the owners at a price tag near $43,000,000 - but that's as like as not to be euphemistic and/or apochrophal.

ReplyDeleteJust left Solomons Island MD today - was here all week, I'm curious who was on board and why visiting for an entire week. Enjoyed seeing her every morning as I walked by - what a beautiful ship.
ReplyDeleteThirteen was docked in St. Michaels, MD, on June 7, 2011, in front of the St. Michael's Crab and Steak house. Saw about 10 staff members walking around the dock speaking English, but I thought I detected a slight accent on one man. A few were carrying boxes of food back to the ship. Dockmaster would not reveal where the boat was registered nor to whom it belongs.

In addition to Thirteen, there was another yacht in the Wentworth Marina today, July 24, 2011. It was the Lady Kath. I was told one of the yachts belonged to Donna Karan, the Designer and the other one belonged to a sports team owner. Can anyone verify this info?
